Meet Our Ethos Illustrator: Colin Sutherland
A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldn’t think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.
Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, it’s only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.
CreativeMornings/Asheville chose October’s Ethos theme and Colin Sutherland created the accompanying illustration.
We’re excited to share some of our favorite artworks created by Colin!
About Colin Sutherland
I’m Colin Sutherland, co-founder of the risograph print shop Woolly Press in Asheville, North Carolina. My illustration and print work is often inspired by the ecology of Western North Carolina, visual narratives, and the constraints that are inherent to riso printing. I’ve been a full time artist for about 5 years now; prior to that, I worked as an environmental scientist specializing in data visualization. I love making work for younger audiences and have released three riso-printed children’s books, The Great Seed, The Truth of Things, and That’s Better. I also enjoy hand-carving fishing lures and exploring the incredible place that is the southern Appalachian mountains.
