Meet Our Critical Illustrator: Maedeh Mosaverzadeh
A monthly theme inspires new conversations and ideas that we otherwise wouldn’t think about. At our virtual events, speakers are invited to share a story around the theme and what it means to them. After a month, we are excited to see the talks and inspiration that are born out of the theme.
Given that these monthly illustrations are at events all around the world, it’s only right that we get to know the illustrator. It is a tradition at CreativeMornings to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for the monthly theme.
CreativeMornings/Calgary chose August’s Critical theme, Maedeh Mosaverzadeh created the accompanying illustration, and Mailchimp is presenting the theme.
We’re excited to share some of our favorite artworks created by Maedeh!
About Maedeh Mosaverzadeh
Maedeh Mosaverzadeh is an Iranian visual storyteller based in Calgary, Canada. Through illustration and animation, she unfolds stories about the interconnected relations between people and nature in an everyday context.
Maedeh is also passionate about bringing awareness about plastic pollution and its potential causes and harmful damages on nature through her illustrated and animated works. As an effort to bring awareness, Maedeh created an Instagram page called ‘A Yellow Land’ which represents her ongoing work in relation to critical environmental issues caused by plastic pollution.
In her new illustration for this month’s theme of ‘Critical,’ Maedeh depicts potential paths that can lead an artist to create a work of art; from idea and data gathering, to execution and exhibition. This work renders how the artistic process always involves having a critical point of view to see various meanings and aspects of a subject matter.
