March's Theme is LOCAL

Our theme for March is LOCAL. It was chosen by our Santos chapter in Brazil and illustrated by Simone Matias.

Local (pronounced lo·cal) in Portuguese means “place or being a resident or native to a particular area.”

Our Santos chapter had this to say about the significance of this month’s theme:

“We are proud to be from Santos. The feeling of loving the city but sometimes moving away. The benefits of belonging somewhere.”

Watch this video from our Santos chapter for more on what local means to them.

So, how does where you’re from define who you are? How do different spaces foster that sense of connection? How can we develop and strengthen bonds with the people around us?

It’s time to remind ourselves that community happens in neighborhoods not just on screens.

Living in Bodrum is already a privilege, but choosing to live it like a local is a conscious decision 🌿 with the feeling of “I belong here.” Living Bodrum like a local is also a bit like the path I am on right now: simplifying, rooting myself, yet staying free.

And to travel like a local everywhere? It’s a mindset. Wherever you go: - Sit at a neighborhood café instead of a chain coffee shop. - Choose the homemade dish, not the most famous item on the menu. - Explore backstreets rather than the main tourist avenue. - Visit the local market. - Wake up early.

Living like a local means not “consuming,” but experiencing. ✨
