Meet our JOURNEY illustrator: Salim Al Salami
Each month, CreativeMornings has a different theme for the talks given at our local chapter events around the world. It is our tradition to work with an artist in our community to create an illustration for each monthly theme.
Our theme for January is JOURNEY. It was chosen by our Muscat chapter in Oman and illustrated by Salim Al Salami.
As a visual artist, Salim Al Salami is a member of the Omani Society for Fine Arts, the International Watercolor Society (IWS), and the Italian Fabriano Watercolor Organization. He has received awards and achieved high positions in local exhibitions and competitions. Notable international participations include the United Kingdom (Gloucester), Japan (Tokyo), Russia (Moscow), Italy (Fabriano), Tunisia (Sfax 2016), (Carthage 2023), Jordan (Amman), Qatar (Doha 2024), and Egypt (Cairo 2024). His artworks are collected by various state and private institutions.
He shared that the inspiration for this month’s theme illustration was the architecture of the coastal town of Muttrah; which has its own unique character. As Salim put it, “when ships started sailing from this charming spot across the whole world, they carried memories of the city and houses.”
