This month we’re excited to return on Friday March 27th with Brian Holoubek of Heavy Rotation and Urban Garage Sale who will be speaking on the global theme of “Ink.” The son of an inventive t-shirt printer, Brian Holoubek has taken up his own mission of spreading artwork around the world by way of printed t-shirts. He will be sharing insights and stories he has had along the way.
Below, we asked Brian six questions to better get to know him.
What do you typically eat for breakfast?
Coffee and a slice of crunchy toast with a fine slice of Wisconsin cheese topped with pickled jalapeño carrot escabeche.
What do people know you for?
Arty t-shirts. Urban Garage Sale. Infinite optimism.
How is Milwaukee special to you?
The possibilities. We have so many great resources in people, parks, lakes, rivers, real estate and ideas. Every year, I see new ideas come to life. If you ever find yourself saying Milwaukee needs… Then get to it — build it.
What may people not know about you?
I collect fishing tackle boxes. The best ones are full of old lures and have been long forgotten in a barn or garage. I like to leave them just the way I found them like time capsules.
What drives your creativity?
Creativity is solving problems. If you are successful, you can connect with others through your creations. I am also driven by a fear of boredom.
What are you going to talk to us about this month?
Ink. Namely printed t-shirts as social connectors.
Registration opens here Monday March 23rd at 11:00 AM. See you all soon!
